Bowling has been a collector for 24 years, starting at the age of 9. Born in Livonia, Michigan, Ryan started out collecting fossils but quickly moved into collecting minerals. Ryan has been an avid field collector, collecting at many places. At ten years old, Ryan’s family moved from Michigan to San Diego, California. At that time, Ryan discovered the pegmatites of Pala, and collected there as much as he could. He collected in the Stewart Mine, Little Three Mine, amongst others. San Diego County pegmatites are Ryan’s specialty and primary collection focus. Ryan attended and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in Engineering, and still lives in Colorado to this day. He enjoys collecting amazonite, topaz, and many of the other Colorado pegmatite species. Field collecting is Ryan’s passion in the mineral word, as he has been many places in the country experiencing great new finds. BERYL var.
