Jeff est licencié en Géologie du MIT et possède un Master en Education de la Northwestern University (ndt: Evanston, Illinois). Il est un collectionneur sérieux depuis environ 15 ans et est un membre actif de l'Association Minéralogique de Dallas. Bien que la fluorite soit son minéral favorite il s'est efforcé d'avoir une collection des plus complète. Parmi ses autres centres d'intérêt figurent les chats, le football, le cinéma et la Nature.
